Online Coaching FAQs
Find straightforward answers about how online coaching works, what is included, pricing, check-ins, training, nutrition and applying for coaching.
Iwan G Coaching is a personally delivered online fitness coaching service for adults across the UK. It combines individual training programming, practical nutrition guidance, weekly one-to-one check-ins, direct support and progress reviews for £100 per month. The answers below explain who Iwan is, how coaching works, what is included and where the service’s professional boundaries sit.
Iwan’s qualifications, first-hand experience, intended clients and professional scope.
Iwan Gregory—full name Iwan Dafydd Gregory—is a Welsh-speaking personal trainer and online fitness coach based in Bangor, North Wales. Born and raised in Talysarn, Gwynedd, he delivers personalised online coaching directly to men and women aged 18 and over across the UK. Clients work with Iwan himself rather than being passed between a large team or an automated support system.
Iwan holds the Focus Awards Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Instructing Exercise and Fitness (RQF), qualification number 601/4885/8, awarded on 5 June 2026 after training through Achieve More Training. He also holds a separate Level 3 personal-training qualification, a current first-aid qualification and appropriate professional insurance. The About page should display the complete certificate titles, awarding details, insurance scope and any professional-register information so visitors can verify the credentials rather than relying on a general claim.
Iwan began training during a difficult period when he lacked confidence, frequently under-ate and wanted a more positive direction. He started at approximately 68kg in 2022 and learned through his own mistakes with programme structure, nutrition, technique and recovery. That first-hand experience helps him understand why beginners can feel overwhelmed and why clear, realistic guidance is often more useful than simply being told to work harder.
The service can support complete beginners, people returning after a break, intermediate trainees and advanced recreational trainees. Coaching can be structured around building muscle, reducing body fat, improving strength, managing bodyweight, increasing general fitness, developing more consistent habits and becoming more confident with exercise. The approach depends on the client’s starting point, health, schedule, equipment and ability to participate consistently.
Iwan does not provide competitive bodybuilding show preparation, diagnose injuries or medical conditions, or support unsafe target bodyweights and extreme body-composition goals. He may recommend a safer direction, request medical guidance or decline coaching when a goal, injury, eating concern or health condition falls outside his qualifications, competence or professional confidence.
What happens from the first no-obligation application to beginning personalised coaching.
Complete the short online application and explain your current position, preferred outcome, experience, available equipment and the barriers affecting your progress. Iwan personally reviews every application and aims to respond within one to two days. Applying is free, creates no payment obligation and does not commit you to joining.
Iwan reviews the information first to understand whether the service is likely to suit your needs. If appropriate, he arranges an initial conversation that normally lasts around 10–20 minutes. It can take place by phone, Zoom, another agreed video platform, WhatsApp or messaging. The purpose is to clarify your goal, starting point, routine, questions and the support you are looking for.
Onboarding covers your preferred communication method, general location, training history, weekly schedule, available equipment, lifestyle, current position and desired outcome. You also complete a health and injury questionnaire. Iwan asks for information that is relevant to designing the programme, identifying possible limitations and supporting the coaching relationship responsibly.
The first programme is normally prepared within two to five days after Iwan has received the information he needs. Complex schedules, injuries, equipment limitations or details requiring clarification may take additional planning. Coaching can begin as soon as practical or on a mutually agreed start date.
A commercial gym is not essential. Training can be designed around a home setup, minimal equipment, bodyweight exercises or a fully equipped gym. The programme is built around your goal, experience, weekly availability, recovery, preferences and relevant limitations. Sessions, exercise choices, training volume and progression can be adjusted when your performance, schedule or circumstances change.
What the £100 service includes and how Iwan uses your feedback and progress information.
The monthly service includes a personalised training programme, practical nutrition guidance, weekly one-to-one check-ins, direct messaging support, progress tracking, exercise-form feedback, appropriate programme adjustments, relevant coaching resources and a detailed monthly statistical progress report. It is one complete service rather than several support tiers with different essential features.
You complete a structured check-in each week and Iwan personally reviews it. The review can consider completed training, performance, nutrition, sleep, stress, recovery, activity, relevant bodyweight or measurement trends, difficulties and changes to your routine. Progress photographs are optional and are never required if you are uncomfortable sharing them. Each month, Iwan emails a broader report bringing together the most useful agreed data so you can see what is improving, what needs attention and whether the strategy should change.
Day-to-day support is mainly provided through WhatsApp, with email used for monthly reports, important documents and detailed breakdowns. Phone or video calls can be used when a conversation would be more helpful. Clients can message seven days a week and can communicate or complete check-ins in Welsh, English or a combination of both. Iwan normally responds during standard working hours and aims to reply within one to two days; the service is not an instant-response or emergency service.
A missed session or difficult week is not automatically treated as failure. Iwan reviews the wider pattern—including adherence, training performance, nutrition, activity, stress, sleep and recovery—before changing the strategy. Training and nutrition guidance can be adapted around holidays, illness, work pressures, travel and other genuine changes while keeping the long-term goal in view.
Realistic expectations, flexible nutrition support and responsible health boundaries.
Where appropriate, Iwan can provide calorie, protein and macronutrient targets alongside practical meal structures, example meals, portion guidance and food suggestions. The approach can reflect your routine, budget, preferences and cultural or dietary needs rather than forcing every client to follow the same rigid menu. Iwan provides general fitness-related nutrition education within his qualifications; he does not diagnose conditions or replace a doctor, registered dietitian or another healthcare professional.
The timeframe depends on your starting point, goal, health, recovery, lifestyle and consistency. Improvements in routine, confidence, knowledge or training performance may appear before a major visual change. No responsible coach can guarantee an exact amount of fat loss, muscle gain or strength improvement. Iwan provides structure, education, accountability and evidence-informed adjustments, but individual outcomes also depend on the client’s circumstances and participation.
Relevant injuries, medication, illnesses and health concerns must be disclosed before coaching begins. Iwan may adapt training where it is appropriate, follow guidance from a qualified healthcare professional, request medical clearance or refer the client when the situation falls outside his scope. If an exercise causes unexplained pain, stop and tell Iwan rather than training through it. Persistent, severe or worrying symptoms require assessment by an appropriate healthcare professional.
Clear information about payment, cancellation, pauses, the guarantee and local support.
The standard price is £100 per month. Payment can be arranged through Stripe, Direct Debit or standing order. Clients purchasing three or more months in advance receive a 15% discount. The total price, included coaching period, renewal arrangement and applicable terms are confirmed before payment is taken.
Monthly coaching operates as a rolling service and can be cancelled in writing before the next billing date without a separate cancellation fee. Coaching normally continues until the end of the period already paid for. A pause can be agreed for illness, injury, travel or a significant personal circumstance, with approved unused time added to the paid coaching period.
